It was a beautiful day on Tuesday- Poppy and Ruby saw Mr Bird, hard at work in the playground, and wanted to play their violins for him. He took a break and the girls were so happy to be able to play "Twinkle"!

Sunday 17 November 2013

Welcome to violin Poppy- here are the photos from your first lesson, a little while ago now!

You have taken to playing the violin so quickly. From your first lesson you were able to make a beautiful bow hold and balance your violin just right on your shoulder.

You are learning Twinkle now and you've been to your first group lesson to play with everyone all together.

You've even finished your first "Challenge" page- keep up the good work Poppy.

Tuesday 3 September 2013

Welcome to Violin Ishbel!! You are learning your "bunny bowholds" and great violin hold using your box violin :)
Here is Sophia helping Ishbel with her violin hold- great work guys :)
Now we are learning to make your bowhold on a practice pencil- we had fun working out where each finger goes. Now you can finish your 500 Bow Holds sheet to train your fingers to make this pattern every time :) We will move to a practice bow next week!
Sophia is doing great work on Etude and today (wk 6 of term) is playing Etude all the way through, with good memory from start to finish- a big project! Keep up the good work Sophia! :)

Eva prepared a programme for her own home concert for Mum and Dad- brilliant!!

Great work on your bowhold Eva- your fingers are beautifully round and look at your heavy elbow! Great listening in your lessons and staying focussed on your technique :)

Tuesday 25 June 2013

Beautiful posture Esme, and you always make a warm and expressive tone on your violin. Keep up your hard work on Perpetual Motion, Allegretto and Andantino. You are just beginning to work on Etude- very exciting!
Well Done Amy- your practice (wk 4) is exactly what we're aiming for. Practising everyday (you've coloured in 1 through to 6 on the left hand page) and done each task 5 times each day. Fantastic work- your playing is always impressive when you've practised like this. Keep up the good work!!!

Saturday 15 June 2013

Sophia and Ruby you are doing great work on Allegretto and Andantino.

Sophia is just starting Etude too- keep up the good work!!

Well done Macey and George-

you both have your violins right up on your shoulders, and your left hand position is great.

Lovely high fingers ("pizza table") and a straight "runny egg" wrist- fantastic :)

Myles your progress this term has been wonderful. You are doing so many repetitions in your practice and little brother Curtis is your helper to colour in your chart for every piece you play- that is so fantastic. Keep up the great work- you are making a rich and resonant sound!

Fantastic effort this week Ella- you did 2 whole challenges. That is outstanding. You have learnt your Twinkles and Lightly Row is coming along beautifully- well done :)

Sunday 9 June 2013

George- here are some of your excellent practice charts. Well done for such great hard work- you and mum are working so well together at home. Remember lots of hugs and thankyous for mum :)

Dan your practice Challenges are amazing- you are learning to do your pieces over and over and you are developing your memory, tone and confidence as you play. Fantastic work!!

Ned, your practice is great- you and mum are a fantastic team. Make sure you give her lots of hugs for all the hard work she does with you :) Your revision is keeping your muscles well trained for the challenge of your new piece "Gossec Gavotte"- keep working slowly and be super precise with your bow arm for a clear ringing tone. Again, well done!

Millie's Revison Chart- keep up your revision Millie :) Now you're focussing on "Perpetual Motion" and I couldn't trick you last lesson with our 4-notes-each game! Lots of listening to Allegretto, Andantino and Etude will help you move into the next exciting phase of Book 1!

Great practice Ruby- keep up your hard work on "Allegretto", with lots of listening to your CD :)
Tobias Burton-Wood (rm 6, yr 1). You have done so many repetitions in your practice: you and mum are a great team- well done! Congratulations on moving from "Pre-Twinkler" to "Twinkler".
